In the years following the Dorothy Do Movie, the Dorothy Do comics would take on a new design for Dorothy that mimicked his appearance in the animated movie. The comics would run for several more issues following the conclusion of the show, however they too would eventually cease production. In the first comic cover you can see Dorothy’s companion Seabiscuit the Seal, a character introduced as a puppet in the show. Seabiscuit was presented as a lovable but stubborn friend who was adopted by the sailor as a puppy. This was revealed in the comics, however in the show his past with Dorothy was never mentioned.
