Dorothy Do Playset
Dorothy Do Playset, Herring Co, provided by the Mast Foundation
Box cover and playset with six cutout standup cardboard dolls. Among them is a sailor (Dorothy Do), a seal (Seabiscuit), a cook (the Cook), a captain (Captain Littaker), a mapmaker (Mapkeeper), and a sea monster (Brightfin). On the cover of the box Dorothy and Seabiscuit hold the smaller dolls of themselves with cheerful expressions. The box reads: Dorothy Do, Stand up playset.
Created following the success of the Dorothy Do show, these standup paper dolls are a very rare and valuable find that were generously donated to us by the Mast Foundation! We are extremely grateful for their sponsorship this update and for the opportunity to get a hold of such an important piece of Dorothy Do history.
This playset included Dorothy, The Cook, Brightfin, Sea Biscuit, Captain Littaker, and Mapkeeper. Children could play pretend with these cute standees and reenact the events of the Dorothy Do show.
Later editions of the box that these toys came in could be unfolded and cut along the lines to form a makeshift cardboard boat. However, the set provided to us sadly was missing this feature. Regardless, it is remarkable to have the full set of characters at all!
