The Consequence, Jayne Prell
This is yet another drawing from infamous artist Jayne Prell of her equally infamous Slishy Slasher. Although, as you might be able to see here, the character is still in the early stages from before the artist completely acclimated to drawing in the UPA art style. You can also see that the character has been split into two individuals. Although there were very little notes from Prell about this artwork, one could assume that this is another commentary about her experiences with BPD, with the Slishy Slasher haunting her like an awful blue shadow.
Prell often mentioned feeling like a literal killer due to her BPD, that when she ruined another relationship it was just like killing someone because she’d never be able to interact with them again. Again Prell seemed to have a very bleak view on things. In this drawing you can see a self depiction of her identity as a murderer with her BPD clinging to it and constantly reminding her of her actions. Prell would constantly reupload her works with different captions. The ones for this piece go as follows: “The Consequence,” “The Realization,” and “I don’t believe in second chances, I believe in punishment, I believe in justice.”
