Big Changes!
Welcome friends! Penny M here with the monthly update.
Firstly, as you may notice while checking the character pages, our website has had an overhaul visually! With the help of multiple friends and fellow artists, the character pages have now been decorated in fun stickers and gifs that sparkle and dance! Thank you so much to everyone who helped out livening up the website. I'm especially proud of the Hecate Page and Winerva page, which I feel have been a bit difficult to update. Our website likes to fight us sometimes! I remember how much trouble the About Us page used to give me…
Secondly, I want to thank everyone who has been sending in submissions to the imaginarium! I will try to update the page more frequently, but at minimum it will be updated once a month.
What else? Well, I can’t say right now, but exciting things are on the horizon! I’ve been talking to some amazing people, and getting the chance to see some wonderful artistic history that’s pertinent to our site mission. But that will have to wait, it's not ready yet!
I am doing fine as well, and with that in mind I must say that, as kind and appreciated as everyone’s messages are, I’d equally appreciate no more messages about Ick@ck or the events of last year. I’m trying to move on in his memory.
I also wanted to discuss something very important with you all, which is the submission of fake artifacts to the PCL. We appreciate fanart, and I can understand the temptation to try and get your art on the website.
However it is very obvious when a submission is fanart, fake, or to be blunt: not authentic. I’m writing this because I recently received this submission in my mailbox—-with no return address.
It’s a beautiful piece for sure. But very obviously not official Bartlebee Brand material…besides the obvious indicators, Bartlebee Brands never released a product under this name. And the mixup of different art styles is a dead giveaway to me.
That being said I do appreciate the enthusiasm! Just be sure to be more honest next time, ok?
Here’s the regular update art share!
So the first thing you might notice about this art is that it’s Not rubberhose styled! And yeah! I think I mentioned a couple blogs back that I eventually moved away from just drawing rubberhose art. It was after something that happened online that kind of soured me to rubberhose cartoons for a bit but! I’m sure I’ll get back to drawing them someday. Anyways! This art is kind of a reflection of myself at the time? Or how I felt I was being portrayed? The details are a bit hazy to remember but I’m pretty certain that’s what the influence was.
Self beauty and how I appeared to people is something I used to agonize over, not just physically but my presence as well. But eventually I learned that I could survive without the validation of everyone…something others could probably learn from. I decided that beauty is what you take comfort in! I nurture how I act and present myself but how others take that appearance is of no concern to me. You’ve probably heard it before but you’ll always be the villain of someone’s story. Gosh Emma and I know that so well. I don’t have to be liked by everyone around me, and I don’t have to like everyone around me.
Thank you so much for reading this update! See you next time!
