Summer’s At The Door
Hello everyone, Penny M here!
A lot of things happened between now and the last update! Nothing as big as the sponsorship and gallery visit, but for sure the last months have been very hectic so I apologize for any rushedness on my end! However, I do like to keep the site alive, and as such I asked for help from my amazing friend RWG (Lead artist for the website) for this update! As you may know, RWG is a massive Maisy the Mutt fan whom I met several years ago and since then we have been inseparable! While I am very well versed in the animation history of Maisy, RWG is more familiar with Maisy the Mutt’s history as a cultural icon or, in the case of the 70’s, her role as a counter-culture symbol adopted by punk communities! I am very excited to be learning alongside you about this turning point in Maisy the Mutt’s life!
Speaking of turning points.
I was offered a job at the Winfield library! Apparently during our visit and following my archival research for them, they have taken a liking to me and after hearing about my current situation (relocating, unemployed) they wished to assist me with a temporary job there until I can find sufficient work. Emma already makes enough to support us both, but I have been feeling restless sitting here in this house with nothing but her puppets to keep me company. I think that getting out into the world again would do me good. Do not worry! This will not interfere with my work; in fact the library is a short hop away via the Ruby Redline.
That being said, I have been very relieved to gain some sort of independence no matter how small. I’ve been sure to include several Winfield related works in this update as a sign of my gratitude! I would once again like to thank my teammates for helping me through all of this - RWG, Vincent, Emma - they make this site possible and have been so supportive this update! Vincent even helped me to retrieve my special writing binder after I forgot it during a research mission.
I don’t have any of my own art to share this update but I wanted to show off this cute Maisy ashtray Emma found while she was antiquing! It wasn’t in the greatest condition but we’ve been doing our best to restore it. When we’re done maybe I’ll put in on the archive? No promises though.
As always, here is a roster of the update materials!
