In this pre-production art from the Dorothy Do animated movie, we can see one of the first designs proposed when bringing Dorothy into an animated format. This take on his design much more closely resembled his classic illustrated appearance, though there are certainly hints of his final design present.

Ultimately, the studio wanted to forge a new era for Dorothy Do, and his design went through a few more changes before they landed on the final Dorothy we see in the film.
