Lancer in the Inkwell, Comic

Crop of a four-panel newspaper strip next to an article, showing a club tearing through the "wall" of the paper. Lancer, cartoon character with a pointy nose and pointed ears, looks at it and continues to stare as letters and ink spill from the torn paper. Eventually Lancer points to the article next to the strip, which features a grainy picture of a person with the title "LOO" cut off.

Lancer in the inkwell comic strip, illustrated by Lewis Pardain for the Kellbridge Chronicle

This short comic strip is a good example of Lewis Pardain’s style of cartoons. He focused heavily on the idea of his characters interacting with the space outside the frame, such as articles, words, photos, and even an entirely separate page. Pardain’s employers were hesitant to allow this, but were eventually convinced when he insisted that it set the paper apart from others.
