Maisy the Mutt, Comic

Coming from a background in comic strip illustration, Liquid Laff founder Ivan Hoth would continue to draw comic strips of his characters long after leaving the comic strip industry. Here you can see one of his comics featuring Maisy the Mutt and Hobble the hound. These comics, much like the earlier Liquid Laff cartoons, were grim in nature and showcased Maisy as a morally ambiguous character. From her earliest days Maisy was characterized as a regular grave robber and groundskeeper. In Ivan’s words it was the perfect profession for a mutt to have.
