FoundFinders

Penny here! I wanted to promote a group we have been working with since the founding of this site: The FoundFinders! Ran by team member Ick@ck this group is dedicated to finding lost media and restoring it/distributing it to the public.

This group has been instrumental to many of our findings which you have seen in our site archives, lots of the featured works here would be lost forever if not for their amazing help.

All of this tireless work is done for free in the interests of making all media available for public consumption - they conduct interviews, track ownership history, and hunt down artwork with an extreme persistence that rivals anyone I’ve ever met. With this in mind you should check out their webpage below and throw them a donation if you are able, Thank you so much!

UPDATE: due to recent events I thought it best to remove the link from this site. Thanks for your understanding.

Here is your regular update art from me! This one is a little older than my last drawing. If you didn’t know I was a big fan of Millie Moonbeam before you probably do now! I just find her endlessly fascinating…and her history is very sad to me. That poor cartoon…separated from her friend Winnie even if said friend was malicious and hurtful.

Speaking from experience it still hurts to lose a friend regardless of how hurtful or awful they may be so that’s one reason I relate to Millie. Although I was a fan of her before I had those life experiences. I’ve always loved rubberhose cartoons ever since the first time I saw a Maisy the Mutt short, so it’s kind of natural that my art would lean into this style once I started drawing.

What is this drawing based on? Well! It’s based on Millie’s history as a character! An object of desire that was stolen by liars and underhanded businessmen but wasn’t used for much of anything. I think I forgot to put it in the history article but did you know R.W did briefly pursue legal action before finally giving up on ever recovering Millie?

It never amounted to anything but yeah the fight over Millie is very interesting. I tried putting myself in this (fictional) characters shoes. To be the object of affection for beings much larger and powerful than you. To be the object of unwanted affection and attention…yeah I think a lot of people could relate to that.
